“Coming from a sporting family,My Father being a great athlete in his youth & a proffesionl soccer star, player for Ireland in the late 1940′s.
But team sports was not something i had any interest in. I tried boxing for a while coming runner up in the junior Wicklow championships in 1976 after only a week in the club.
Shortly after i saw Photos of Steve Reeves & Arnold Schwarzenegger which made me want to workout. As soon as i picked up my first weight ,I knew Bodybuilding was what i wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was 16 years old & trained with a passion with my brother Raymond probably over training for the next five years as back then there was no one around to help you or give you any advice on training or nutrition.

I was encouraged to compete in the up coming 1982 Irish amateur Bodybuilding Championships which were held in Shedell’s Health club in Dublin.
With out dieting i won the novice class with a unanimous decision. This is also where i first saw & met Sean Bullman who easily won the senior title.
Winning my first competition & seeing Sean who was & is the first true Bobybuilder to stand on an Irish Bodybuilding stage, to represent Ireland in more
Internationl’s than any other Bodybuilder before or since. Setting the standard for everyone to follow. He is also the one person at the time & still to this day to give me the inspiration to strive for bigger titles”
